About Keepers of the Circle
Keepers of the Circle has expanded its operations across the province and is in the early stages of national growth. To support this growth, we are looking for a Communications Coordinator who can help strengthen the foundation of our communication functions across the entire organization (all departments). This role will be focused on developing Keepers of the Circle’s brand, ensuring consistent messaging, branding, and strong engagement with internal and external stakeholders, and helping to establish internal communication processes and systems. This position will play a key role in strengthening and streamlining organizational communications systems and processes as Keepers of the Circle continues to grow.
As an Indigenous organization, the Communications Coordinator must be culturally competent and can understand, appreciate, and interact effectively with people with lived experience. To be considered culturally competent, this position requires experience working with Indigenous Peoples and knowledge of our unique social issues such as colonization, generational trauma caused by the negative impacts of residential schools, and knowledge of Truth and Reconciliation.
Key Responsibilities
- Create branded presentation (PPT) templates to support the goals of departments and project teams (e.g. research, conferences, pitch, internal and external orientation)
- Create branded templates for various social media platforms, tailored to departments and project teams
- Support with maintenance and upkeep of Keepers of the Circle’s website
- Support the coordination and logistics of organizational video projects by liaising with videographer and program teams, scheduling shoots, organizing resources, and ensuring timely communication among stakeholders
- Assist with creating accessible branding guidelines and communication protocols and standards for internal and external stakeholders
- Assist with developing internal communications processes, guides, and resource systems to support long-term organizational growth
- Assist with updating existing brochures, posters, and other marketing materials to be aligned with branding and new information
- Track and organize communication assets, resources, and calendars
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather information, develop messaging, and support organizational priorities
- Other duties as needed to support the Communications Team/Organization
Skills and Qualifications
- Non-judgemental and inclusive
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficient with digital communication tools and platforms, such as social media management, email marketing, and content management systems
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across teams
- Experience working within an Indigenous community setting
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a proactive and adaptable approach
- Excellent problem-solving ability
- Respect to diversity
- Graphic design and/or video editing experience is considered an asset
