Vacancy Details:    1.0 FTE (Permanent/full-time, 40 hours/week - 7:00am to 3:00pm)

Position Summary:

Organize and supervise custodial staff cleaning areas, perform routine cleaning and other related tasks in order to maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment for students, staff and visitors.

Requirements:                                                                                                                                          

• High School diploma or equivalent                                                                                   
• Computer skills (e-mail, data entry, online work orders)                                                   
• Must have current, Board approved, MHMIS certificate                                                   
• Experience in custodial work is preferred                                                                                                        
• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, product directions and mixing ratios                                                  
• Work cooperatively and effectively with other staff and supervisors.                             
• Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.                                                          
• Use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency                                      
• Perform medium to heavy physical labor                                                                                 
• Meet deadlines with time constraints                                                                                                    

Supervisory duties such as:

• direct and supervise custodial staff to maintain a high level of cleanliness in the facility
• organize and implement work schedules
• set priorities and re-arrange staff schedules to accommodate emergencies
• report writing and planning project work
• training custodial staff to ensure understanding of WHMIS requirements and necessity of work safety
• inputting staff absences and replacement employees using the Smartfind absence system
• performing inspections and maintaining digital logs
• requisitioning of materials, supplies, and equipment

Compensation:

Salary in accordance with the provisions in the current CUPE collective agreement Collective Agreements (dsb1.ca) - $29.02 per hour
