The Corporation of the Town of Kirkland Lake is seeking a
Heavy Equipment Operator
Seasonal / Temporary Full-Time / Unionized
Position Overview:
· Under the supervision of the Roads Supervisor, the Heavy Equipment Operator will be qualified to operate all Public Works equipment including but not limited to graders, backhoe equipment, loaders, trucks, sweepers; for the purpose of grading roads, shoulder maintenance, digging ditches, snow ploughing, snow removal, sand/salting operations, transportation of construction/maintenance materials and equipment and for the purpose of repair and construction of sewer or water utilities.
· Hours of work: 40 hours per week but must be prepared to work outside of regular working hours as necessary.
· Standby / On-Call: Job requirement
· Compensation: $ 30.63 per hour as per Collective Agreement, Schedule “A-1”
Minimum Qualifications:
· Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent is required.
· Must have a class "DZ" operator’s licence in good standing.
· Qualified to operate all Public Works equipment including but not limited to graders, backhoe equipment, loaders, trucks, tractor, sweepers.
· Must be capable of completing forms and prepare simple written reports.
· Possess an aptitude for operating and maintaining mechanical equipment.
· Experience operating Heavy Equipment relevant to the Public Works operations or a combination of experience and formal training.
· Knowledge of equipment safety.
· Professional/mature demeanour under stressful situations.
· Confident, consistent decisive personality.
