Agnico Eagle Mines' Upper Beaver Gold Project is situated on the traditional homelands of the Apitipi Anicinapek Nation, Beaverhouse First Nation, Matachewan First Nation and Timiskaming First Nation. YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:
Reporting to the Site Controller, you will be part of the Finance Department. You will be responsible for analyzing and managing the costs associated with our mining operations. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Analyze and monitor production costs, including labor, materials, and overhead;
- Prepare and maintain detailed cost accounting records and reports;
- Conduct variance analysis to identify discrepancies between actual and budgeted costs;
- Provide guidelines for standard cost approaches used in business decisions;
- Establish and monitor cost reduction programs;
- Maintain asset files including updating depreciation numbers with managers, acquisitions and disposals;
- Investigate material, labor and labor overhead variances in the GL;
- Assist in preparing the annual budget and interim forecasts;
- Prepare reports to assist management in understanding departmental costs;
- Identify and track key performance metrics for the operation;
- Complete month-end bank entries, journal entries, reconciliation, data analysis and recurring accruals;
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
- Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in a related discipline (Business, Commerce, Accounting, Economics, etc);
- Professional accounting designation / CPA is required;
- Three to five years of relevant experience;
- Previous experience as a Cost Accountant or in a similar role;
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices;
- Experience with SAP is considered a strong asset;
- Ability to adapt to change in a dynamic and growing company;
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage and prioritize assignments;
- Strong attention to detail;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
Your Work Schedule:
- Schedule: 5/2 (Monday to Friday) or 4/3 (Monday to Thursday). A combination of teleworking and presence at our offices in either Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay, or Sudbury, ON.
- Occasional visits to our Upper Beaver Gold project site in Dobie, ON.
